Gladys Baya: "From cyberbullying to online teamwork"
Caption: Web 2.0 tools for encouraging collaboration
In a world where coping with diversity seems to get harder and harder, and disagreements often lead to violent outbursts, EFL teachers certainly have a valuable contribution to make. We can (and should) help our learners to become better communicators by encouraging them to collaborate with each other. It's true this has been a common concern for decades, but did you know the Web 2.0 can make this really easy by breaking down classroom barriers?

Alastair Grant Where is the “YOU” in YouTube?
How many times have you seen a video clip of a song, TV show, film or even just something funny that’s on YouTube and thought, “now... how could I use that in class...”?We know that YouTube is out there and we all use it, but how can you really apply its often bewildering wealth of material in the classroom? Is it just for fun or can it be used for a lasting pedagogical impact? In this session we will look at ways of delivering engaging and fruitful class activities using YouTube, as a resource that can allow your students to develop both their receptive and productive skills. From exploiting viral videos to basic editing techniques, we will ensure that you have the tools to make this invaluable, worldwide resource work for you and your students.

In this highly practical session, we will discuss how a T.A.S.E.R. model can help us add rhythm, variety and purposefulness to our lessons, keeping more students more focused.

Carolina Echeverría: What do we do when we have extra time and have used all our planned resources?
It's till 20 minutes for the end of the lesson and you've already done all the planned activties? What are you going to do those last but endless minutes? Can't think of anything on the spot? Let's create together some engaging activities you can always use, adapt and re adapt for your students. Carolina will offer a bunch of ideas and strategies to stand by you and help you get to the end of the class effortlessly thus preventing idleness, boredom and misbehaviour.

Cecilia Pena Koessler 'It's cool being a loser!: Textual Intervention Activities to Explore Teens' Antiheroes in T.V. Series'
In postmodern times, the antihero has become the focalizer in fictional texts. However, the term 'antihero' has been recently redefined: what used to mean 'bad guy' has now changed into 'loser' with a positive connotation. By means of extracts taken from popular T.V. series and textual intervention activities, we will explore how the new teens' antiheroes have come centre stage.

Sarah Hillyard: Looking Backwards, Moving Forwards: Activities we use with the little ones to teach the big ones.
Games, stories, art, tongue twisters, songs and poems are not just for little children. Teachers can liven up the classroom by using activities normally used with young learners to teach English to older learners. Alternative playful activities can supplement more formal lessons, employed as warm ups and closures or to teach vocabulary, grammar structures and pronunciation.
